The holiday season is among us , you may have a young up and coming family or a well experienced family ; my point for saying this is we all love traditions. I am a huge traditionalist especially now that I have my own family. I love the traditions that my parents bestowed upon me! I really wanted to add to the or put my own spin on things.
Just this past Thanksgiving my family had our own Thanksgiving/ Friendsgiving without our entire family. This Christmas we won’t be doing Elf on the Shelf, I really wish that we could but I figured my daughter wouldn’t understand the concept and the Elf would become her favorite toy instead. We do intend to leave milk and cookies for Santa!
Here are a few traditions to try with your family:
- Watching Christmas Movies
I’ve been encouraging the Christmas movies because I want my daughter to understand who Santa is and that he isn’t scary.
- Go See Santa and Take a Picture
We took Mariah to see Santa last year and she did very well, but this year not a chance. She was not feeling Santa at all! We even sat with Santa to make it easier. I think we can chop this up to her needing a nap. So, make sure that your little one is well rested and dressed for the occasion.
- Dress for the Occasion
I think it is so cute to have matching pajamas or t-shirts to wear for picture day or the holiday festivities.
- A Delicious Family Treat/Santa Treat
Recently, I attended an event at church for Friendsgiving and I tasted one of the most delicious cookies EVER!
This S’Mores Cookie was beyond delicious and it has definitely made the list of cookies for Santa. I found a delicious recipe on Pinterest for a S’mores Cookie .
I hope that my family traditions give you ideas for your family!
From my family to yours Happy Holidays!!!
